Bounded to the south by McNichols, to the west by Wyoming Ave., the east by Livernois Ave., and to the north by West Outer Drive, Bagley is a centrally located sanctuary of winding tree-lined streets and charming homes perfect for anyone looking for a reprieve from the hubbub of city life without sacrificing urban amenities. 
 
Originally, the deeds belonging to the then-new locale of Bagley stipulated that the houses must be detached dwellings made of exclusively brick, stone, or concrete in order to create a distinct neighborhood atmosphere. Named after John J Bagley, a wealthy tobacco merchant and founding member of the Republican Party, Bagley attracted a diverse population during the mid-to-late 1900s and enjoys a lively community to this day. 
 
Complete with almost 5,000 homes, Bagley was created with careful forethought and planning. A map of curving avenues lined with trees gives the neighborhood a soft, shaded atmosphere complete with a pleasingly harmonious aesthetic made possible by the homes’ Tudor, French Renaissance, and other architectural styles.
